Good Friyay!😄

hello friends!

Today, I will be talking a bit about Good Friday. While most of us know Good Friday to be a public holiday here in Singapore, but do we know the origins behind it?

Good Friday is a Christian holiday when Christians remember what Jesus did on the cross for all mankind. Christians believe that through the ultimate one-time sacrifice of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, our sins were paid for once and for all.

Why do some Christians deem Good Friday as more important than Christmas itself? This is because Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birth, but Good Friday (and 3 days later, Easter Sunday) represents the work that he did.

What exactly did Jesus do those 2000+ years ago? Well, if you recall the cross that is always used to represent christianity, that’s the same structure that roman soldiers used to hang Jesus on to die. This method of torture and death was called cruxifixion. Cruxifixion is the most cruel and highest form of punishment that is reserved for criminals of that era. It involves being hung or nailed to the cross structure and being left to die from asphyxiation (suffocation). But Jesus never sinned; not even once!

Why then would Jesus be treated like a criminal when he did nothing wrong? Because many didn’t know and believe that he would go on to redeem the world of its sins. However, Jesus willingly went to the cross to die. He took on all the sins of the world at the moment of his death on the cross.

Why then did Jesus choose to willingly die on the cross? Because God wanted to demonstrate his own love for us; by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Jesus chose to do it out of love for us. Jesus chose to die as a sacrifice for all sinners on this earth. And that includes both you and me.

Did Jesus really take away our sin? Was it only temporary? When Jesus took away all the guilt of our sin, neither did God postpone the penalty of sin, nor did he overlook sins as human weaknesses. Instead, the bible tells us that He remembers them no more.

Now so what if Jesus died and took our sins? He took away our sins so that we may live for righteousness. So that we may know the right way to live by following Jesus. Ultimately, he took away our sins to help us in our reconciliation of our relationship with God.

So today, what is your response? Will you accept Jesus’ love today or will you walk away into eternal sin? Contact me at @justjooz if you need someone to talk to about this :)

Stay safe,
Justin
